Mountaineers to Compete at CSCAA Open Water Championship

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Student-athletes from the West Virginia University men's and women's swimming and diving teams will compete in the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Open Water Championship on Saturday at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Florida.
The men's 5k competition will take place at 8:30 a.m. The women's 5k competition will take place at 10:30 a.m.
West Virginia will be represented by seven Mountaineers, including freshmen Jake Salcedo, Oliver Stull, and Gabriel Tortola, juniors Vedaant Madhavan, Ian McKinney, and Parker Sterlitz and senior Olivia Busch.
Team events will be conducted concurrently with individual events, with a maximum of five athletes per team.
Last season, South Carolina won the men's side with a total time of 3:03.58, and Rice won on the women's side with a total time of 3:17.44. Those times were calculated by using the top three times from the swimmers on those respective teams.
