
Mountaineers Place Second at CSCAA Open Water Championship

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Student-athletes from the West Virginia University men's swimming and diving team placed second at the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Open Water Championship at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Florida, on Saturday.
The men's team was led by junior Parker Sterlitz, who placed fifth overall and third in Division I with a final time of 53:16.10. Freshman Jake Salcedo placed 14th (55:19.60), junior Ian McKinney placed 18th (55:30.20), freshman Oliver Stull finished 25th (55:47.40), freshman Gabriel Tortola placed 42nd (57:11.30) and junior Vedaant Madhavan finished 47th (58:27.60).
On the women's side, senior Olivia Busch placed eighth overall and seventh in Division I with a final time of 59:01.20.
