
No. 20 West Virginia Sweeps Mountaineer Quad

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 20 West Virginia University wrestling team remained undefeated after sweeping the Mountaineer Quad at Hope Coliseum on Sunday in Morgantown.
West Virginia (4-0) defeated Glenville State, 37-9, Princeton, 25-9, and Appalachian State, 31-12.
Redshirt junior No. 17 Ian Bush (184) continued his electric start to the 2025-26 season, winning all three of his matches. Against Glenville State, Bush utilized three takedowns in the third period to win by technical fall, 18-2.
Bush earned his second ranked win of the season as he defeated Princeton's No. 16 Kole Mulhauser by decision, 8-5.
Redshirt junior Brody Conley (174) was also impressive on the mat, picking up three wins. Two of those wins came by fall as Conley pinned Glenville State's Hayden Pummel and Appalachian State's Colt Campbell.
In the 157-pound weight class, redshirt sophomore No. 3 Ty Watters recorded three victories, including two by fall, to remain undefeated on the season.
In his first action since the Southeast Open, graduate student Jett Strickenberger faced Princeton's No. 18 Marc-Anthony McGowan in the 125-pound match. In a tightly contested affair, an escape in the second period proved to be the difference as Strickenberger won by decision, 1-0.
NC State transfer, redshirt sophomore Louie Gill (125), had an impressive performance on the day. He earned two victories as he beat Glenville State's Bryce Nichols by fall and won by technical fall over Appalachian State's Cooper Foster, 17-2.
