
Mountaineers Travel to Coastal Carolina

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 4 West Virginia University men's soccer team travels to Coastal Carolina for a Sun Belt matchup, Friday, Oct. 10. Kickoff from CCU Soccer Stadium is set for 7 p.m.

The Mountaineers are 7-1-2 this season after defeating No. 6 Georgia Southern, 2-0, on Saturday. Graduate student Carlos Hernando and senior Marcus Caldeira each scored for WVU while graduate student Bryce Swinehart and sophomore Isaac Scheer both collected assists.
Goalkeeper Marc Bonnaire made three saves to secure his second consecutive shutout en route to taking home Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week honors. Overall, he has recorded five shutouts this season and has allowed just one penalty kick goal in three conference games.
Junior Pablo Pozos leads the Sun Belt and is eighth in the country with eight goals this season while Caldeira is 12th in the country and atop the Sun Belt leaderboard in points with 18 (6g, 6a).
In the Sun Belt table, the Mountaineers are tied with Kentucky with nine points, three points clear of both Georgia Southern and Marshall.
Coastal Carolina is led by first-year head coach Chris Fidler. The Chanticleers are 1-6 and 0-3 in the Sun Belt after a close 2-1 loss at Old Dominion in their last contest.
Loed Klaasen leads the team with eight points on two goals and four assists. Alec Laible and Harrison Gough have split time in goal, making a combined 21 saves on the season.
