
No. 4 Mountaineers to Wrap Up Non-Conference Action Against American

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 4 West Virginia University men's soccer team is back home for its final non-conference game of the season against American on Tuesday, Oct. 14. Kickoff from Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium is set for 7 p.m.
Nick Farrell and Adam Zundell have the call of Tuesday's contest on ESPN+. The game also can be heard on 91.7 FM (WWVU) in Morgantown, and live stats are available at WVUsports.com.
Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance by visiting WVUGAME.com or calling 1-800-WVU GAME. Tickets for WVU students are free with a valid student ID. The first 250 fans through the gates to grab a WVU Crest Travel Tumbler.
The Mountaineers are 8-1-2 on the season after defeating Coastal Carolina, 2-1, Friday evening. Seniors Marcus Caldeira and Ethan Dekel Daks each scored for WVU with sophomore Braedon Smith and freshman Nacho Martinez collecting assists.
Junior Pablo Pozos leads the Sun Belt with eight goals this season while Caldeira has seven.
Caldeira has a team-high six assists while sophomore Isaac Scheer has five and Dekel Daks has four. Caldeira and Pozos are No. 1 and No. 2 in the Sun Belt with 20 and 17 points, respectively.
In the Sun Belt table, the Mountaineers sit at the top with 12 points, three points ahead of Kentucky and Marshall. After Tuesday's contest, WVU will jump back into conference play at Georgia State on Saturday, Oct. 18.
American is led by seventh-year head coach Zach Samol and are 5-6-1 on the season and in first place in the Patriot League with a 4-1 conference record.
Mustapha Sowe and Troy Elgersma lead the team with three goals while Sebastian Garces has a team-high four assists. Matthew Tibbetts has made 35 saves this season and has a .761 save percentage.
