
Mountaineers to Compete in Thunder in the Mountains Tournament

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Four student-athletes from the West Virginia University tennis team will compete in the Thunder in the Mountains tournament at the Schoenbaum Tennis Courts in Charleston, West Virginia, from Sept. 27-29.
Seniors Michaela Kucharova and Mille Haagensen, redshirt junior Maja Dodik and freshman Laura Villanueva Morillo will compete in the tournament for WVU.
To begin the fall 2024 slate, these four Mountaineers competed in the Bedford Cup in College Park, Maryland. Haagensen finished the tournament undefeated and was crowned singles champion.
Dodik advanced to the finals in singles play, and the doubles pairing of Dodik and Kucharova advanced to the finals in doubles play.

Kucharova earned a bye in the main draw of the tournament and will play in the quarterfinals at 3 p.m. EDT. Haagensen also earned a bye in the main draw and will play at 3 p.m.
Dodik will face Nadia Norcutt and Villanueva Morillo will face Marshall's Kylie Fisher.
The first round of preliminaries is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. EDT on Friday, September 27. The main draw will begin at 11 a.m. EDT on Saturday, September 28. Semifinals will start at 10 a.m. EDT on Sunday, September 29.
