Box Score LAWRENCE, Kan. - The West Virginia University baseball team completed the weekend sweep of Kansas on Sunday, winning 16-9 at Hoglund Ballpark. The Mountaineers improve to 19-12 and 8-4 in the Big 12 while the Jayhawks fall to 15-14 and 7-8 in conference play.
 
West Virginia hit six home runs in the contest for just the ninth time in program history which included four straight in the eighth inning. Senior Reed Chumley went deep twice to give him a team-high eight home runs on the season while junior Grant Hussey, sophomore Sam White, junior Kyle West, and sophomore Logan Sauve each added one.
 
Sauve finished the day with five hits, four RBI and three runs scored while Chumley also drove in four while collecting three hits.
 
The Mountaineers scored in the first eight innings of the game beginning with three in the first on a single by West and a couple of bases-loaded hit-by-pitches.
 
Chumley drove in his first run of the game in the second with a single before Sauve singled home a run in the third. However, Kansas answered with two runs in the second and three in the third to even up the game at five.
 
In the fourth, Chumley put the Mountaineers back on top with his first home run of the day, but the Jayhawks answered back with two in the home half to take the lead.
 
Sauve evened up the game once again in the fifth with an RBI single before White put WVU on top with a double. Chumley added a third run in the inning with a sacrifice fly.
 
The two teams traded runs in the next four half-innings with the Mountaineers getting an RBI single from junior JJ Wetherholt in the sixth and a solo home run from Hussey in the seventh.
 
In the eighth, Sauve, White, Chumley and West made some history as they went back-to-back-to-back-to-back, each hitting home runs over the left-field wall.
 
Sophomore Robby Porco earned his second win of the season on the mound while sophomore Maxx Yehl picked up his first save by throwing 2.2 scoreless innings with three strikeouts.
 
The Mountaineers will be back in action on Wednesday at Marshall. First pitch from Jack Cook Field in Huntington is set for 6 p.m.
