
West Named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Junior Kyle West of the West Virginia University baseball team has been named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week.
West hit .600 (6-for-10) on the week and tallied a 2.092 OPS in a three-game sweep over Baylor. He had multiple hits and at least one RBI in all three games, hitting home runs on Friday and Saturday.
The Hedgesville, West Virginia, native added doubles in the final two games as well and was all over the basepaths, scoring eight runs and stealing two bases.
West is the second Mountaineer to earn the award this season after Derek Clark was named both Big 12 Pitcher and Newcomer of the Week on April 8.
Overall, it is the 15th instance that a WVU baseball player has been named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week.
