MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia graduate pitcher Ian Korn has been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America second team.
Earning his master's degree in executive sport management, Korn had a 4.0 GPA to go along with his success on the field. It is the second straight year that Korn has been named an Academic All-American after earning a spot on the Division II First Team while playing at Seton Hill in 2025.
The York, Pennsylvania native is just the fifth player in program history to be named an Academic All-American and the first since JJ Wetherholt in 2023. Other Mountaineers include Lee Fritz (2005, 1st Team), Josh Williamson (1997, 3rd Team) and Matt Schubert (1991, 1st Team; 1992, 2nd Team).
Overall, Korn is the 146th WVU student-athlete across all sports to be named an Academic All-American, 40th most all-time and 21st among Division I schools.
On the field, Korn enjoyed a stellar year on the mound in his lone season with the Mountaineers. He went 6-1 with a 3.39 ERA and 70 strikeouts in 79.2 innings pitched as he helped lead WVU to its first College World Series appearance in program history.
This is the second major honor that Korn has collected this season as he was also named First Team All-Big 12, joining Wetherholt and Schubert as the only two Mountaineers to be named All-Conference First Team an Academic All-American in the same season.
