MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Redshirt sophomore Jordan Titus of the West Virginia University wrestling team makes his return to the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships after collecting one of the final 47 at-large berths into the 2024 field, announced by the NCAA Committee on Tuesday.
The at-large selections were made by the NCAA Division I Wrestling Committee using the following selection criteria: head-to-head competition, quality wins, results against common opponents, winning percentage, ratings percentage index, coaches ranking and conference tournament finish.
Titus is coming off his second straight podium finish at the Big 12 Championship (6th) to finish one spot short of the five allocations presented to the 141-pound division. The Center Moriches, New York, native enters the postseason spectacle with a 23-4 overall record, including seven wins over ranked opponents.
With the second-year qualifier in the mix at 141 pounds, WVU will send five grapplers to compete on the national stage, marking the second straight year in which half or more of the starting lineup qualified for the NCAA tournament and first time in back-to-back seasons since 2011 and 2012.
Junior Jett Strickenberger (125), true freshman Ty Watters (149), senior Peyton Hall (165) and redshirt freshman Brody Conley (174) all join Titus, as the foursome broke the allocation threshold of their respective weight classes during the 2024 Big 12 Championship to clinch automatic bids. Hall braces for this fourth consecutive trip to nationals, while Strickenberger, Watters and Conley prep for their debuts following a trio of top-five finishes in their debuts at the conference championship over the weekend.
Final brackets and seeding are set to be announced on Wednesday, March 13, via NCAA.com at 8 p.m. ET.
The NCAA Championships feature 330 wrestlers across ten weight classes vying for a spot on the podium at the T-Mobile Center from March 21-23 in Kansas City, Missouri. Kansas City plays host to the event for the first time since 2003 and second time in history, marking the 11th time the postseason tournament has been held in Missouri.
