Box Score BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Junior Aidan Major threw 7.0 scoreless innings for the West Virginia University baseball team on Friday as the Mountaineers shut out Western Kentucky, 4-0, at Nick Denes Field. Both teams are now 6-4 on the season.
 
Major finished his day with five strikeouts and just two hits allowed in his seven innings on the mound, the longest outing of his career. He also had just one walk on 109 pitches and lowered his season ERA to 2.50.
 
Sophomore Sam White powered the offense, hitting two home runs and driving in three runs. Sophomore Logan Sauve also had two hits and scored two runs for the Mountaineers.
 
Neither team could muster a run through the first three innings, but in the fourth, White slammed an 0-1 pitch over the wall in right-center to put WVU on top.
 
In the next inning, Sauve singled in front of White's second home run of the day, a two-run shot to centerfield.
 
Sauve manufactured WVU's fourth run of the game in the seventh as he hit a double and advanced to third on a wild pitch before coming into score as the catcher's throw sailed into left field.
 
The Hilltoppers looked to get to Major in the home half of the seventh, but a 5-4-3 double play turned by West Virginia ended any sort of threat.
 
Redshirt-sophomore David Hagaman finished the game with 2.0 scoreless innings on the mound with a pair of strikeouts.
 
The two teams will meet again on Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. ET.
