MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Junior right-handed pitcher Chase Meyer of the West Virginia University baseball team has been named a First-Team Preseason All-American by Over-Slot Baseball.
The team was put together based on who is thought to be the first players selected at their position in the 2026 MLB Draft. Meyer was listed as a relief pitcher along with Cole Carlon of Arizona State.
As a sophomore in 2025, Meyer put together a strong season on the mound, going 9-2 with a 3.94 ERA. He struck out 63 batters in 48.0 innings while earning one save. In his career, he has 91 strikeouts in 67.1 innings pitched.
Meyer is the 12th WVU player to be named a preseason All-American. It is the third straight season and fifth time in last six years that at least one Mountaineer has been named a preseason All-American by at least one publication.
The Mountaineers begin the 2026 campaign on Feb. 13 at Georgia Southern. The first chance to catch WVU at Wagener Field at Kendrick Family Ballpark will be on Feb. 24, when the Mountaineers take on Canisius.
