MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – For the first time since 2017, the West Virginia University wrestling team departs for Las Vegas to compete at the 43rd annual Cliff Keen Invitational from Dec. 6-7.

"Can't wait to compete in the best tournament of the season," seventh-year WVU coach Tim Flynn said. "This is the best in-season test of the year as our guys have to really step up to do well in Vegas."

West Virginia makes its 19th appearance at the annual event since the dawn of the millennium, where the Gold and Blue took sixth to end the first half of the 1999-2000 campaign. WVU went on to claim 11 top-20 finishes with four in the top 10, highlighted by a runner-up finish in 2001. The Mountaineers recorded their final two top-10 performances in 2002 (5th) and 2005 (8th).

The two-day event gets underway inside the Las Vegas Convention Center on Friday, Dec. 6, at noon ET/9 a.m. PST. Fans can catch all the action live exclusively on FloWrestling and follow along on FloArena for live stats throughout the weekend.

This year's field is filled with 30 schools across 20 states (Arizona, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia and Wyoming). Thirteen of the schools participating join No. 18 WVU in the top 25 of the latest NWCA Coaches Poll. No. 3 Oklahoma State leads the way, followed by No. 4 Nebraska, No. 5 Ohio State, No. 6 NC State, No. 7 Virginia Tech, No. 9 Michigan, No. 10 Northern Iowa, No. 11 Cornell, No. 12 Iowa State, No. 14 South Dakota State, No. 15 Stanford, No. 23 Oregon State and No. 25 Arizona State.

Other Division I schools participating in the showcase include Appalachian State, Binghamton, California Baptist, Cal Poly, Columbia, CSU Bakersfield, Harvard, Hofstra, Navy, Northwestern, Ohio, Purdue, Rider, Sacred Heart, Utah Valley and Wyoming.

As the one of nine Big 12 conference representatives at the midseason tournament, Flynn's squad will bring nine wrestlers to face off against some of the top competitors in their respective weight classes. Seven of the nine Mountaineers traveling remain ranked in FloWrestling's top 33, including No. 23 Jett Strickenberger (133), No. 13 Jordan Titus (141), No. 28 Sasha Gavronsky (157), No. 4 Peyton Hall (165), No. 29 Brody Conley (174) and No. 32 Austin Cooley (197).
