
Mountaineers Continue Road Swing at Cincinnati

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University volleyball team (8-14, 2-9 Big 12) heads to Cincinnati, Ohio to face off against the Bearcats on Nov. 7. First serve is slated for 11 a.m. ET, inside the Fifth Third Arena.

Thursday's match marks the 18th meeting between the Bearcats and the Mountaineers, as Cincinnati leads the all-time series, 14-3. In the team's last meeting this season, UC defeated West Virginia, 3-0 on Sept. 25 in Morgantown.
Last time out, the Mountaineers dropped a three-set match to No. 8 Kansas on Nov. 2, 3-0 in Lawrence, Kansas. West Virginia was led offensively for the seventh straight match by senior outside hitter Hailey Green who tallied 12 kills while hitting .242 percent.
Additionally, a trio of Mountaineers including junior middle blockers Laila Ibrahim and Chalina Lederer and sophomore middle blocker Maddy McGath all collected three total blocks.
West Virginia ranks second in the Big 12 with 147 service aces in 90 sets, averaging 1.63 aces per set. Redshirt junior outside hitter Cassidy Tanton and sophomore setter Alexis Finnvold rank No. 9 and No. 10 in league service aces, respectively.
Ibrahim comes in at tenth in the conference with 91 total blocks in 86 sets, averaging 1.06 blocks per set. Graduate student libero Sydney Reed also ranks No. 10 in the Big 12 with 325 digs this season in 90 sets, good enough for 3.61 digs per set.
Molly Alvey is in her 13th season at the helm of the Bearcats, with a 199-180 record. Cincinnati enters Thursday's match, 12-9 with a 3-7 mark in league play. UC returns home to Cincinnati after falling, 3-1 to Houston on Nov. 1 in Houston, Texas.
