
Mountaineers to Host First Round of NCAA Tournament

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University men's soccer team will play North Florida in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, the selection committee announced on Monday.
The Mountaineers and Ospreys will meet at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium on Thursday, Nov. 21, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. The winner of Thursday's contest will head to Charlottesville to face No. 11-seed Virginia on Sunday, Nov. 24.
Priority NCAA Tournament tickets will go on sale for Mountaineer Athletic Club (MAC) members beginning at 9 a.m., Tuesday, and will run through 3 p.m. MAC members can purchase tickets during the priority window by logging into their WVUGame account. Public on sale will begin at 3 p.m. General admission tickets will be $12.
Tickets for full-time WVU students will be available on game day at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium ticket windows. Tickets will be free for WVU students with a valid student ID, courtesy of Coca-Cola.
West Virginia earned an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament by winning the Sun Belt Championship. The Mountaineers also won the Sun Belt regular season title, the first time that WVU has won both in the same season as part of any conference.
Overall, the Mountaineers enter the tournament with a 12-1-7 record. West Virginia is one of two Sun Belt teams to qualify for the NCAA Tournament along with No. 13-seed Marshall.
The 48-team field is made up of champions from 22 conferences, who qualified automatically, in addition to 26 teams that were selected at-large. The top 16 teams were seeded and received first-round byes.
All first-round games will be played Thursday, Nov. 21, on campus sites, while all second-round action will take place Sunday, Nov. 24.
