
West Virginia Prepped for No. 8 Kansas on Saturday

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University volleyball team (8-13, 2-8 Big 12) travels to Lawrence, Kansas on Nov. 2 to face off against No. 8 Kansas. First serve is slated for 2 p.m. ET, inside the Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena.

Saturday's match marks the 28th meeting between the Jayhawks and Mountaineers, Kansas leads the all-time series, 21-6. In the team's last meeting, West Virginia fell, 3-0 to KU inside of the WVU Coliseum on Oct. 10 in Morgantown.
Last time out, the Mountaineers dropped a five-set match to Kansas State, 3-2 on Oct. 31 in Manhattan, Kan. Senior outside hitter Hailey Green led the WVU offense for the sixth straight match, notching a season best 23 kills.
Junior middle blocker Laila Ibrahim tallied her second straight double-double with 11 blocks and 10 kills versus the 'Cats. Graduate student setter Lauren DeLo added the second double-double of the match with 44 assists and 10 digs.
West Virginia ranks No. 2 in the Big 12 with 145 service aces in 87 sets, averaging 1.67 service aces per set. Redshirt junior outside hitter Cassidy Tanton is tabbed at No. 7 in the league with her team best 33 aces, at 0.38 aces per set.
Ray Bechard is in his 27th season at the helm of the Jayhawks, with a record of 488-309. Kansas enters the match, 19-1 with a 10-0 Big 12 mark after defeating Texas Tech, 3-0 on Oct. 30 in Lubbock, Texas.
