MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced the 2024-25 wrestling schedule.
Coming off back-to-back double-digit win seasons for the first time since 1990 and 1991, Mountaineer Wrestling's 16-event calendar showcases five home duals inside the WVU Coliseum: Glenville State on Nov. 6, Iowa State on Jan. 8, Pitt on Jan. 12, Northern Iowa on Feb. 1 and
Arizona State on Feb. 23.
There will also be a special off-campus dual versus Cal Baptist on Dec. 15 at Oak Glen High School, where two-time All-American Peyton Hall became the school's first four-time state champion at four different weight classes (120, 132, 138 & 152).
"I love how hard our schedule with a lot of quality programs and big-time tournaments," seventh-year head coach Tim Flynn said. "Our guys are going to be tested and ready go by the time the Big 12 Championship and NCAA Championships come around."
Flynn's squad officially opens the season for the third consecutive year at the Southeast Open on Nov. 2, before ending the month of November at Rider on Nov. 14 and Application State on Nov. 22.
The Mountaineers travel to Las Vegas to compete in the Cliff Keen Invitational from Dec. 6-7, marking the program's first appearance at the prestigious event since 2017. They travel back to the East Coast for a quad featuring Campbell, Wisconsin and North Dakota State to close the first half of action in Kissimmee, Florida, on Dec. 21.
After wrapping up its nonconference road slate at Princeton to christen the new year on Jan. 4, West Virginia faces Oklahoma on Jan. 17, Oklahoma State on Jan. 19 and Missouri on Jan. 26, matching its longest road trip of the year. WVU's road schedule concludes at Utah Valley on Feb. 6 and Wyoming on Feb. 8, two weeks prior to its season finale against ASU.
The Big 12 Championship heads back to the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for the ninth consecutive year on March 8-9. Two weeks later, the 2025 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships take over Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from March 20-22. Philadelphia plays host to the event for the first time since 2011 and second time in history, marking the 15th postseason tournament held in Pennsylvania across five different cities.
