
Mountaineers Complete Road Swing in Houston

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University volleyball team (6-8, 0-3 Big 12) rounds out a week of Big 12 road play against Houston on Oct. 4. First serve is slated for 8 p.m. ET, inside the Fertitta Center in Houston.

Friday's match is the fifth meeting between the Cougars and Mountaineers, Houston leads the all-time series record, 4-0. Last season, the squads met for the first time since 2011, as Houston took a pair of wins, 3-0 over the Mountaineers on Oct. 6 and 7.
On Wednesday, the Mountaineers fell, 3-0 to UCF in Orlando, Florida. WVU was led by sophomore middle blocker Maddy McGath who tallied seven kills, hitting .267%. Defensively, the Mountaineers were highlighted by junior middle blocker Laila Ibrahim who collected five total blocks.
West Virginia ranks sixth in the Big 12 with 98 service aces in 57 sets this season. Additionally, redshirt junior outside hitter Cassidy Taton is No. 3 in the conference with 26 service aces in 2024.
David Rehr is in his fourth season at the helm of the Cougars, with a record of 115-58. Houston has posted a 6-7 record this season, with a 1-2 conference mark. In their last match, UH fell, 3-2 to TCU on Oct. 2 in Houston.
