MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – After scoring a brace in the regular-season finale, junior forward Taylor White of the West Virginia University women's soccer team has been named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Earning her first career Big 12 weekly nod, White scored the two goals within just 33 seconds of each other in the 50th minute to lift WVU to a 4-1 win over Houston on Oct. 25. The performance marked her second brace of the season, including the second of her career. The first goal was credited as the eventual game winner, her first of the season and the fourth of her career.
A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, White is now tied for the team lead with seven goals this season, while she ranks second on the team with 17 points. Her performance against Houston helped West Virginia officially clinch the No. 3 seed in the 2024 Big 12 Championship.
West Virginia now looks ahead to the 2024 Sprouts Farmers Market Big 12 Championship, set for Oct. 30 – Nov. 9 at CPKC Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. As the No. 3 seed, WVU has earned a first-round bye and will face the winner of a first-round match between No. 6 Kansas vs. No. 11 Arizona State in the quarterfinals on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 9 p.m. ET.
