
West Virginia Set for Inaugural Match with Colorado

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University volleyball team (7-11, 1-6 Big 12) heads to Boulder, Colorado to face the Buffaloes in the team's inaugural match on Oct. 23. Wednesday's first serve is slated for 9 p.m. ET, inside the CU Events Center.

Wednesday's match marks the first meeting between the Buffaloes and Mountaineers, as Colorado rejoined the conference after competing in the Pac-12 conference for 13 seasons.
Last time out, the Mountaineers picked up their first league win of the season, defeating UCF, 3-1 inside of the WVU Coliseum in Morgantown. West Virginia was led by senior Hailey Green, who collected 19 kills while hitting .581 percent. Graduate student setter Lauren DeLo had an impressive outing, notching a double-double with a season high 44 assists and 12 digs.
West Virginia ranks second in the Big 12, collecting 122 service aces in 73 sets to average 1.67 aces per set. Additionally, redshirt junior Cassidy Tanton ranks No. 7 in the league with 0.38 aces pet set, No. 9 in kills at 3.44 kills per set and tenth in points with 3.93 points per set.
The Mountaineers are led by Tanton in kills and service aces with 251 and 28, respectively. Defensively, graduate student libero Sydney Reed has tallied 263 digs on the year, as junior middle blocker Laila Ibrahim has collected 65 total blocks.
Jesse Mahoney is in his ninth season at the helm of the Buffaloes, with a record of 138-118 at CU. Colorado enters the match, 10-9 with a 3-4 conference mark after falling, 3-0 to Arizona State on Oct. 18 in Tempe, Arizona.
