
Mountaineers Close Out Non-Conference Play at Dayton

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 4 West Virginia University men's soccer team heads to Dayton on Tuesday, Oct. 15, for its final non-conference match of the season. Kickoff from Baujan Field is set for 7 p.m.

The Mountaineers are 8-0-3 on the season after defeating Georgia Southern, 4-2, on Friday in Statesboro. Junior Marcus Caldeira scored two goals in the victory with graduate student Sergio Ors Navarro and freshman Isaac Scheer each finding the back of the net as well. Ors Navarro also added two assists while senior Frederik Jorgensen and graduate student Ryan Baer each added one.
West Virginia is one of just two remaining unbeaten teams in the country along with Western Michigan. It is the second year in a row that the Mountaineers are unbeaten through 11 games.
Redshirt senior Marc Bonnaire has made 20 saves in goal for the Mountaineers, collecting six shutouts in the process.
Dayton is 5-2-3 this season after falling to Fordham, 4-2, on Saturday. The Flyers lead the country in shots per game, averaging 21.70 shots per contest.
Martin Bakken leads Dayton with six goals on the season while Hjalti Sigurdsson has a team-high 14 points. Dario Caetano has made 32 saves in goal while posting two shutouts this season.
