
Mountaineers Continue Sun Belt Action at Georgia Southern

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 4 West Virginia University men's soccer team is back on the road for a Sun Belt matchup with Georgia Southern on Friday, Oct. 11. Kickoff from Bo Pitts Field in Statesboro is set for 7 p.m.

The Mountaineers are 7-0-3 on the season and are coming off a 2-1 victory over UCF on Saturday. Graduate student Sergio Ors Navarro and junior Marcus Caldeira each scored in the contest while graduate student Max Broughton, sophomore Sam Nyenka, and freshman Isaac Scheer each collected assists.
West Virginia is one of just three unbeaten teams remaining in the country along with Ohio State and Western Michigan. The Mountaineers also sit atop the Sun Belt standings with seven points, tied with in-state rival Marshall.
Ors Navarro leads the team with 10 goals, third-most in the nation. Overall, the Mountaineers are top 10 in the country in shots per game (16.50), shots on goal per game (7.30), and corner kicks (7.40).
Redshirt senior Marc Bonnaire has made 16 saves in goal for the Mountaineers, collecting six shutouts in the process.
Georgia Southern is 5-1-3 this season and 1-0-1 in Sun Belt play after defeating Coastal Carolina, 5-0, on Friday.
Ryan Holmes leads Georgia Southern with eight goals this season while two players have dished out four assists. Nate Martinez has an .806 save percentage in goal for the Eagles with four shutouts on the season.
