West Virginia Finishes Day One at Penn State National Open

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team completed the first day of the Penn State National Open on Friday, Jan. 26 at the Multi-Sport Facility & Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track in University Park, Pennsylvania.
The Mountaineers kicked off the day with a personal best performance by freshman Izayah Everett in the 60-meter dash, with a 7.87 time.
Redshirt senior Mikenna Vanderheyden finished with a personal best in the women's mile, with a 4:48.17 time. Redshirt sophomore Emily Bryce also set a career best in the mile run, with a 4:53.53 finish.
The day was capped off by freshman Kishay Rowe with her collegiate debut in the women's 800 meter, finishing with a 2:13.40 time.
West Virginia continues day two of the Penn State National Open on Saturday, Jan. 27. Saturday's meet begins for the Mountaineers at 11 a.m. ET, with the women's 600 meter and the high jump.
