Mountaineers Claim Relay and Triple Jump Titles at YSU Collegiate Invitational

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team recorded several strong performances at the YSU Collegiate Invitational, highlighted by a two event victories and multiple top-three results across the track events.
Freshman Alicia Hall led the Mountaineers in the field events, capturing first place in the triple jump with a mark of 11.80 meters. Hall also competed in the long jump, finishing 15th with a leap of 5.16 meters. Eva Craigie placed 11th in the long jump at 5.28 meters, while Sabria Jones recorded an 18th place finish with a jump of 5.13 meters.
On the track, WVU claimed victory in the 4x400 meter relay as Lily Haught, Izayah Everett, Mae Nelson and Cate Pickering combined to finish first with a time of 3:55.86.
Haught delivered on of WVU's top finishes of the meet, earning third place in the 200 meters with a time of 25.57 seconds. Haught also competed in the 60-meter hurdles, placing 11th in the preliminaries with a personal best time of 9.26.
In the 60 meters, Craigie finished sixth overall with a time of 7.91 seconds. Olivia Cress placed sixth in the preliminaries at 7.96, while Everett recorded a 10th place finish at 7.96. Sierra Heisey rounded out the event with a 19th place finish in 8.24 seconds.
Cress also competed in the 60-meter hurdles, placing sixth with a time of 9.14. In the shot put, she finished 14th with a throw of 10.58 meters.
The Mountaineers showed depth in the 400 meters, led by Everett's fourth place finish in 59.22 seconds. Mae Nelson followed in sixth at 59.94, while Pickering placed seventh in 1:00.19. Audrey Thomas added an 11th place finish with a time of 1:01.29.
West Virginia found success in the distance events as well, with Tatiana Moura placing second in the mile at 5:03.60. Mary Delaney followed closely in third at 5:03.75, while Alyssa Sauro finished fourth in 5:04.33, giving WVU three top-four finishes in the event.
