
Cornerback Signs With Mountaineer Football

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University football coach Neal Brown has announced that Ayden Garnes, a 6-0, 170-pound redshirt junior cornerback from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has signed a grant-in-aid and will transfer to WVU from Duquesne. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

- Played for coach Jerry Schmitt at Duquesne
- Started all 12 games and recorded 51 tackles
- Finished with a sack and was third on team with five tackles for loss
- Led the team with 11 pass breakups
- Collected two interceptions, one of which was returned 27 yards for a touchdown, and a fumble recovery
- Registered a season-high seven tackles at Youngstown State
- Saw action in 10 games and made seven consecutive starts to end season at cornerback
- Recorded 33 tackles, made two interceptions, broke up two passes, blocked a kick, had one fumble recovery and forced a fumble
- Had five solo tackles and a tackle for loss against Sacred Heart
- Made an interception and forced a fumble at Hawaii
- Registered an interception in the season finale win over Wagner
- Recovered a fumble versus Merrimack
- Nominated for AFCA All-State Good Hands Team for outstanding community service
