MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia men's soccer team is ranked No. 2 in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll, the highest the Mountaineers have ever been in program history.
While No. 2 in the NCAA-recognized United Soccer Coaches rankings, the Mountaineers also sit at No. 2 in the TopDrawerSoccer poll as well as No. 3 by College Soccer News.
West Virginia is 5-0-1 this season which includes a win over then-No. 3 Portland as well as a road draw at current-No. 3 UCF.
Sophomore
Marcus Caldeira is second in the nation with seven goals this season, having scored in all six contests.
Senior goalkeeper
Jackson Lee and the Mountaineer defense are allowing just 0.50 goals per game, ninth-best in the country.
The previous high ranking for the Mountaineers came on Sept. 28, 2021 when WVU was ranked No. 3.
Marshall is No. 1 in all three polls. The Thundering Herd will come to Morgantown on Oct. 18 for the Mountain State Derby. Tickets for that game can be found
