MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Center Zach Frazier is going to begin the 2023 campaign on at least one All-America team.
Today, the Walter Camp FBS Preseason All-America team was announced, and the West Virginia University junior made its second team.
Frazier is coming off an impressive 2022 campaign that saw him register 51 knockdown blocks and help WVU's ground attack average more than 171 yards per game. He recorded nine knockdown blocks in West Virginia's victory at Virginia Tech, had eight against Kansas and seven versus Oklahoma.
Eleven of his 12 games last year were flawless in terms of missed assignments, and he went 11 out of 12 games without allowing a sack.
The Fairmont Senior product has played 35 career games, starting 34, and earned Walter Camp and AFCA Second Team All-America honors last season.
Frazier is one of four Big 12 performers to be recognized on Walter Camp's two preseason football squads. Kansas State offensive lineman Cooper Bebe and Cincinnati defensive lineman Dantay Corleone were named to the first team, while Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy joined Frazier on the second unit.
Walter Camp is the nation's oldest college football All-America team. Camp, considered the "Father of American football," first began picking All-America teams in 1889. He is credited with developing play from scrimmage, set plays, the numerical assessment of goals and tries, and the restriction of play to 11 men per side.
Typically announced in early December, the Walter Camp All-America teams are chosen by the FBS head coaches and sports information directors.
Season tickets for the 2023 West Virginia University football campaign are on sale through the Mountaineer Ticket Office and can be purchased online by logging on to WVUGAME.com.
