
Four Mountaineers Named to Preseason All-Big 12 Football Team

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Four West Virginia University players were named to the 2022 Preseason All-Big 12 Football Team announced this afternoon by the Big 12 Conference.
Center Zach Frazier, kicker Casey Legg, defensive tackle Dante Stills and cornerback Charles Woods made the 29-player team chosen by media representatives who cover the league.
Kansas State had the most preseason choices with six, followed by Baylor's five and four each from West Virginia and Iowa State. Texas and Oklahoma State had three players picked, TCU two, while Oklahoma and Kansas received one each.
Texas Tech did not have a player recognized on this year's preseason squad.
Texas running back Bijan Robinson, also the league's Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, was one of two players who were unanimous choices. K-State running back Deuce Vaughan was the other.
Wildcat pass rushing standout Felix Anudike-Uzomah was named the Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, while Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel, a Central Florida transfer, was tabbed as the Big 12's Newcomer of the Year.
Returning All-Big 12 First Team choices include quarterback Spencer Sanders, Robinson, Iowa State fullback Jared Rus, Iowa State wide receiver Xavier Hutchinson, TCU wide receiver Quentin Johnson, Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy, Baylor offensive lineman Connor Galvin, Iowa State offensive lineman Trevor Downing, Kansas State offensive lineman Cooper Beebe, Kansas State returner Malik Knowles, Iowa State defensive lineman Will McDonald IV, Anudike-Uzomah, Stills, TCU defensive back Tre'Vius Hodges-Tomlinson and Oklahoma punter Michael Turk.
Stills, who is tied with Darryl Talley for sixth in career sacks at West Virginia with 19, is a repeat Preseason All-Big 12 pick.
The conference will be revealing its preseason poll tomorrow ahead of 2022 Media Days, slated for July 13-14 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
West Virginia, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Kansas and Baylor will be in Arlington on the 13th with Iowa State, Oklahoma, TCU, Texas and Texas Tech attending on the 14th.
