MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University football coach Rich Rodriguez has announced the promotion of Andrew Warwick to linebackers coach, Garrett Hirsch to assistant general manager and the addition of Paul Padalino to the football staff as a defensive analyst.
Warwick, who was an assistant defensive coach at WVU in 2025, is in his second year on the coaching staff, after spending the three years prior as the co-defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach at Wofford.
He also spent time as the linebackers coach at Troy (2019-2021), defensive coordinator at Jacksonville State (2018) and was on the defensive staff at Clemson as a senior defensive assistant (2016-17) and graduate assistant (2012-15). He began his coaching career in 2008, the defensive backs coach at Thomas More College. He also coached at Coffeyville Community College in 2011.
A native of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Warwick earned his bachelor's degree in history from Knox College in 2007 where he was a three-year starter at tight end and wide receiver. He received his master's degree in athletic leadership from Clemson in 2014. He, and his wife, Anita, have two children, KJ and Timothy.
In his role, Hirsch plays a vital part in scouting and recruiting and assists with the on-campus recruiting process.
Hirsch, also in his second year at WVU, coordinates various aspects of the program's recruiting department, identifying, developing, strategizing and executing the recruiting plan. He oversees the scouting department student assistant program and the management of the portal best-available board throughout the season.
Hirsch assists in the creation of in-season advance reports used to scout opponents. He evaluates players on the WVU roster and other Big 12 rosters to analyze and identify strength and weaknesses of the rosters. He also organizes the transfer portal prospects, identifying potential transfer options.
Prior to coming to WVU, Hirsch served as the director of on-campus recruiting at Jacksonville State for a year and then served as the director of player personnel. He also spent time at Louisiana-Monroe, first as the director of on-campus recruiting and then as the director of player personnel.
A native of Towanda, Illinois, Hirsch graduated with his bachelor's degree in exercise science from Illinois State in 2020 and earned his master's degree in sport management from Louisiana-Monroe in 2022.
