
WVU Continues Homestand With Penn, Delaware

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University tennis team continues its homestand this weekend, as the Mountaineers play host to Penn and Delaware, on March 5-6. Both matches will take place at the Summit Tennis Academy, in Morgantown.
WVU (6-4, 0-0 Big 12) begins the weekend with a matchup against Penn. The two squads meet for the first time since 1996, on Saturday, Mar. 5. The Mountaineers continue competition on Sunday, Mar. 6, against Delaware. First serve against Penn is set for 12 p.m. ET, while Sunday's matchup against Delaware will begin at 9 a.m. Live stats and a livestream for both matches can be found on WVUsports.com.
"We are looking forward to the weekend of competition," Mountaineer coach Miha Lisac said. "This is a huge opportunity for our team to bounce back from last week's matches."
Penn comes to Morgantown with a 5-4 record and a split weekend against William & Mary and No. 22 Old Dominion, on Feb. 26-27. The Quakers topped the Tribe, 5-2, before falling to ODU, 1-6.
West Virginia and Delaware are set to meet for the first time in program history. The Fightin' Blue Hens come to Morgantown with a 6-2 record and a 6-1 loss to VCU to break a five-match win streak. Of note, UD has notable wins against Rutgers (6-1), Navy (7-0), Villanova (6-1) and George Washington (5-2).
The Mountaineers are coming off a 1-1 split weekend, as WVU welcomed George Washington and Toledo to Morgantown for a doubleheader, on Feb. 26. West Virginia kicked off its homestand with a 5-2 victory over GW, before falling short to Toledo, 4-3.
