MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University tennis team was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team for the 13th consecutive year, and eight Mountaineers were named ITA Scholar-Athletes for the 2025-26 season.
Graduate student Julie Bousseau, senior Audrey Moutama, sophomores Lyla Byers and Laura Villanueva Morillo and freshman Sosanna Malaak and Lucia Tognoni were named ITA Scholar-Athletes.
"It's an incredible achievement for Audrey, Julie, Lyla, Sosanna, Lucia and Laura to earn ITA All-Academic honors," head coach Miha Lisac said. "We're extremely proud of the commitment they've shown both on the court and in the classroom. Credit goes to each of our student-athletes for their dedication to competing and performing at a high level while excelling academically.
"This recognition also reflects the outstanding work of our academic support staff. Our academic advisor Jeremy Lannon and our entire academic team do a tremendous job of providing guidance, encouragement and resources that help our student-athletes succeed. Their commitment plays a major role in our team's success in the classroom."
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet a set of academic and athletic standards of having a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, a program must hold a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale), all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
