MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia collected a pair of weekly award winners announced earlier today by the Big 12 Conference.

Running back Tony Mathis Jr. was named co-offensive player of the week, sharing the award with TCU quarterback Max Duggan, while Casey Legg picked up co-special teams player of the week accolades. He shared the special teams award with Oklahoma State's Tanner Brown.
Mathis Jr. ran for a career-high 163 yards and scored two touchdowns in West Virginia's impressive, 43-40 come-from-behind victory over Baylor last Thursday night in Morgantown.
The Orlando, Florida, resident scored a 7-yard touchdown in the first quarter and added a 34-yard TD jaunt late in the game. His 163 yards were the most by a Mountaineer running back since Leddie Brown ran for 195 against Kansas in 2020.
Mathis has regained the team lead in rushing with 459 yards. He is also averaging an impressive 5.0 yards per tote with five touchdowns.
Legg continued his perfect streak by booting a pair of field goals, including the 23-yard game-winner with 33 seconds left. He is now 10-for-10 for the season and shows 11 multi-field goal games for his career. The Charleston resident is eighth in program history in career field goals made (36) and kick scoring (183).
Texas linebacker Jaylan Ford was named the conference's defensive player of the week.
It's the second time this season WVU players have been recognized on the Big 12's weekly honor roll. Freshman running back CJ Donaldson was named the league's newcomer of the week after his impressive college debut against Pitt on Sept. 1.
West Virginia (3-3, 1-2) resumes Big 12 play this Saturday at Texas Tech (3-3, 1-2). The game in Lubbock will kick off at 3 p.m. (ET) and will be televised nationally on FS1.
Additionally, the Big 12 Conference has announced that ESPN and Fox will utilize a six-day window for West Virginia's Oct. 29 home date against eighth-ranked TCU. The Horned Frogs boosted their record to 6-0 with a 43-40 victory over Oklahoma State last Saturday, and face No. 17 Kansas State in Ft. Worth this weekend.
Tickets for West Virginia's three remaining home games against TCU, Oklahoma (Nov. 12) and Kansas State (Nov. 19) are on sale through the Mountaineer Ticket Office and can be purchased online by logging on to WVUGAME.com.
