Student Ticketing Process Announced for 2021 Gold-Blue Game
April 16, 2021 02:48 PM | Football
West Virginia University and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will welcome fans back to Milan Puskar Stadium for the Gold-Blue Game on Saturday, April 24. The stadium will operate at 25% capacity as part of the health, safety and wellness measures implemented in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The student ticketing process will follow the same format as the 2020 fall regular season and begin on Monday, April 19. Student eligibility remains the same as in prior years. All undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in a traditional degree program are eligible to request tickets.
To accommodate physical distancing in the student sections, student seats at Milan Puskar Stadium will be limited to approximately 2,000 seats between upper, lower and Mountaineer Maniacs sections. The Senior Spirit Section (section 121) will not be available as WVU student members of "The Pride of West Virginia" Mountaineer Marching Band will occupy that section.
The 2,000 student tickets will be distributed in a reserved seating format, not general admission seating. These seats will be in blocks of two, and physically distanced throughout sections 109 and 110 in the lower level as well as 205-211 in the upper level. Students must sit in the reserved seat listed on their ticket.
Due to high demand and limited seating capacity to accommodate physical distancing, the game will likely go into lottery selection. Just as in the fall, no previous loyalty points will be factored into the lottery system.
Each student who wants to attend the game must request during the request phase. If a requesting student is selected in the lottery process, they will be awarded two (2) tickets – one student ticket to use for entry and one guest ticket to be transferred to a WVU student.
The guest ticket must be transferred to the MIX account of a current WVU student who is eligible to receive student tickets for athletic events through the ticketing system. Only the guest ticket can be transferred, and it can only be transferred to current WVU students with MIX email addresses. NO outside guests will be permitted. The sale, or attempted sale, of student tickets or guest tickets is prohibited, as is the alteration, duplication or replication of student tickets. Any student found in violation of these policies will be referred to the Office of Student Conduct.
Following the same model from the 2020 season, the Mountaineer Maniacs will have access to about 35% of the student section seats, which is the same percentage of student seating as in prior years. Maniacs members will be eligible to request the Maniacs section in the upper level, but those seats will likely be distributed via lottery selection due to the Maniacs total membership. Members will be eligible to request upper or lower seating if they choose.
The ticketing request timeline will be as follows:
REQUEST PHASE: Monday, 9 a.m. - 11:59 p.m.
This is when any eligible WVU student may request tickets for the game.
CLAIM PHASE: Wednesday, 9 a.m. - 11:59 p.m.
Following a lottery selection, students will be notified if they were selected to receive two tickets and must "claim" those tickets that day to add them to their account. They then can transfer their guest ticket online to a WVU student who can attend the game with them and sit in the accompanying seat. Students who do not claim their tickets on this day by 11:59 p.m. will lose their tickets; these tickets will go back into the student ticketing pool for other students to claim on a first-come, first-served basis in the on-demand phase.
ON-DEMAND PHASE: Thursday, 9 a.m. - Friday, 12 p.m.
* Students not selected in the lottery must wait until the on-demand phase for an opportunity to claim any tickets from students who were initially selected but did not claim their tickets. These unclaimed tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis during the on-demand phase.
Students who receive tickets for the football game are subject to all University health and safety policies, Student Code of Conduct, stadium guidelines and other conduct as outlined in the student ticketing FAQs.
More details are available on the Student Ticketing website. All students who want to request tickets should log in and familiarize themselves with their account at www.WVUGAME.com/students.
