Puskar Center Work Progressing

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – WVU director of athletics Shane Lyons said earlier this week that interior and exterior construction work continues to progress on the Milan Puskar Center complex.
During a 25-minute sit-down interview with our Tony Caridi, Lyons indicated that a significant portion of the work should be completed in the coming days.
"A lot of parts we are ahead, but some parts we are getting behind just because of getting the product that we need because of the virus going on," he said. "(General contractor) March Westin has been great and we are at a place where we need to be, but some of the finishing aspects are probably a week or two behind."
Much greater progress has been made on the outside where the new Hall of Traditions area near the right-side front of the facility is now enclosed.
When finished, an additional 13,700 square feet will be added to the existing structure expanding it to nearly 86,000 square feet.
According to the Puskar Center Complex website created when the Climbing Higher campaign was officially announced in the summer of 2018, the project will impact all areas of Mountaineer football including the team academic center, locker room, student-athletes' lounge, Hall of Traditions, equipment room, coaches' offices, team meeting rooms and visiting team facilities.
Some areas, such as the training room and training table areas, were part of the first phase of construction and have already been completed.
"We're really proud of the facility. It is changing the face of the Puskar Center and our timeline for the project to be completed is next spring in April or May," Lyons noted.
Meanwhile, Lyons said the videoboard project directly above the Puskar Center is right on schedule.
"They are working around the clock," he said. "That's on schedule and we hope to have that up and running by the end of August."
