Student Ticketing Process Updates Announced for WVU Football Home Games
October 09, 2020 03:17 PM | Football, General
West Virginia University and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will welcome fans back to Milan Puskar Stadium for the first time this football season when the Mountaineers host the Kansas Jayhawks on Saturday, Oct. 17. The stadium will operate at 25% capacity as part of the health, safety and wellness measures implemented in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The student ticketing process for the Kansas game will begin Monday, Oct. 12. Student eligibility remains the same as in prior years. All undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in a traditional degree program are eligible to request tickets.
To accommodate physical distancing in the student sections, student seats at Milan Puskar Stadium will be limited to approximately 2,000 seats between upper, lower and Mountaineer Maniacs sections. The Senior Spirit Section (section 121) will not be available for the 2020 season because current WVU student members of "The Pride of West Virginia" Mountaineer Marching Band will occupy that section.
The 2,000 student tickets will be distributed in a reserved seating format, instead of general admission seating as in prior years. These seats will be in blocks of two, and physically distanced throughout sections 109 and 110 in the lower level as well as 205-211 in the upper level. Students must sit in the reserved seat listed on their ticket.
Due to high demand and limited seating capacity to accommodate physical distancing, each home game will likely go into lottery selection. In an effort to give as many students as possible the opportunity to experience a Mountaineer football game day this season, no previous loyalty points will be factored into the lottery system. Also, no loyalty points for the 2021 season will be accumulated from attending games this year.
Each student who wants to attend a home game must request during the request phase. If a requesting student is selected in the lottery process, they will be awarded two (2) tickets – one student ticket to use for entry and one guest ticket to be transferred to a WVU student.
The guest ticket must be transferred to the MIX account of a current WVU student who is eligible to receive student tickets for athletic events through the ticketing system. Only the guest ticket can be transferred, and it can only be transferred to current WVU students with MIX email addresses. NO outside guests will be permitted. The sale, or attempted sale, of student tickets or guest tickets is prohibited, as is the alteration, duplication or replication of student tickets. Any student found in violation of these policies will be referred to the Office of Student Conduct.
The Mountaineer Maniacs will have access to about 35% of the student section seats, which is the same percentage of student seating as in prior years. Maniacs members will be eligible to request the Maniacs section in the upper level, but those seats will likely be distributed via lottery selection due to the Maniacs total membership. In an effort to give as many Maniacs as possible the opportunity to attend the game, members will only be selected one time to sit in the Maniacs section this season. Members will be eligible to request upper or lower seating for all home games if they choose.
WVU has four home games remaining – Oct. 17, Oct. 31, Nov. 14 and Nov. 28. The ticketing request timeline will be as follows:
Students who receive tickets for the football game are subject to all University health and safety policies, Student Code of Conduct, stadium guidelines and other conduct as outlined in the student ticketing FAQs.
More details are available on the Student Ticketing website. All students who want to request tickets should log in and familiarize themselves with their account at www.WVUGAME.com/students.
WVU's stadium capacity plan will be continually evaluated and adjusted throughout the season. Fans will receive updated information about any changes due to the status of the COVID-19 pandemic on the WVU campus and in the local community.
