MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia coach Neal Brown previewed Saturday's game against 11th-ranked Texas during his weekly Tuesday afternoon news conference inside the team room at Milan Puskar Stadium.
The 3-1 Longhorns will be making just their fourth appearance in Morgantown this Saturday, all three prior meetings coming since West Virginia joined the Big 12 Conference.
In 2013, Texas needed overtime to knock off a five-loss Mountaineer team 47-40 at Milan Puskar Stadium. Four years ago, West Virginia routed Texas, 38-20, and the Longhorns won the most recent meeting in Morgantown in 2017, 28-14, with assistance coming, of course, from the first-quarter injury to quarterback Will Grier.
Overall, West Virginia has a 5-3 advantage in a series that dates back to a 1956 Mountaineer victory over the Longhorns in Austin.
Saturday's matchup has been sold out for weeks and a crowd exceeding 60,000 is expected.
A 3:30 p.m. kickoff has been assigned for the game, to be televised nationally on ABC.
