No. 15 WVU Hosts Penn in Midweek Matchup

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 15 West Virginia University men's soccer team's final homestand of the season continues with a non-conference matchup against Penn on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. ET, at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
Tickets are available at WVUGAME.com and at the DDSS ticket office. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for youth under 13 and senior citizens and $2 for groups of 10 or more. WVU students are admitted free with a valid WVU Student I.D.
It is Boy Scouts Night, and all Boy Scouts in attendance will receive discounted admission when wearing their badges. Additionally, as part of Taco Tuesday, walking tacos will be available at the concession stand.

The Mountaineers (7-4-4, 0-1-2 Mid-American Conference) are ranked No. 15 in the latest Soccer America Top 25, while West Virginia is No. 7 in the United Soccer Coaches Great Lakes regional poll. With two home games remaining in the regular season, WVU own a 3-2-3 record at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium, with three matches coming against top-25 opponents. Three of West Virginia's last four home games are against ranked foes.
The Quakers (3-9-1, 1-2-1 Ivy League) play their third match of the season against a MAC opponent, after going 0-2 against Bowling Green and SIUE at home earlier this season. Penn comes to Morgantown for the second time in three seasons and plays WVU for the fourth consecutive year.
The Mountaineers have several players that are among the national and league leaders in several statistical categories. Senior Jad Arslan's three game-winning goals is No. 25 nationally and second in the MAC. Sophomore Albert Andres-Llop is also No. 2 in the MAC with five goals, while junior Jorge Quintanilla is third in the conference in both total assists (5) and assists per game (0.36).
In goal, junior Stephen Banick is fourth in the league with five shutouts and a .718 save percentage.
As a team, West Virginia's eight shutouts and .533 shutout percentage rank 13th nationally and second in the conference. WVU also is third in the league in total goals (17) and total points (52).
SCOUTING PENN
Penn owns a 3-9-1 record and a 1-4-0 mark away from home. The Quakers are coming off a 4-1 Ivy League win over Yale on Saturday, which snapped a three-game losing streak. WVU is Penn's third MAC opponent, after losing to Bowling Green, 2-0, and beating SIUE, 2-0.
Joe Swenson leads the squad with seven goals and 16 points and shares the team lead with two assists with Sam Wancowicz. In goal, Etan Mabourakh has made 22 saves and has a 1.91 goals-against average in five starts, while Scott Forbes has 20 saves and a 2.00 GAA in eight starts.
Rudy Fuller is in his 20th season as head coach of the Quakers and owns a 135-160-40 record. He guided Penn to four NCAA Tournament appearances and has coached two Ivy League Players of the Year in his tenure.

The Mountaineers are 2-1 all-time vs. Penn and have met in each of the last three seasons. Felix Angerer scored the game-winner in last year's 1-0 win in Philadelphia on a goal assisted by current WVU senior Steven James. Current junior Rushawn Larmond scored a goal in a 3-2, two-overtime loss at home in 2015, while West Virginia posted a 1-0 road win in 2014.

In a battle of top-15 teams, No. 15 West Virginia suffered a 1-0 loss to No. 8 Western Michigan in overtime on Oct. 20 at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
The Mountaineers played right with the eighth-ranked Broncos for more than 90 minutes before a foul was called on WVU just outside the box. On the ensuing free kick from 25 yards out, WMU scored the game winner in the 96th minute. Anthony Bowie took the free kick and made the short pass to Brandon Bye, who scored into the lower left corner of the net. The goal came off a deflection and was his 11th of the season.
West Virginia and Western Michigan both had five shots and two shots on goal in the contest. Freshman keeper Steven Tekesky made one save for WVU, while Drew Shepherd had two stops for the visitors. The Mountaineers held a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.
