Top-15 Matchup Set for Friday in Morgantown

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – A top-15 matchup is set for Friday, Oct. 20, as the No. 15 West Virginia University men's soccer team hosts No. 8 Western Michigan at 7 p.m. ET, at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
Tickets are available at WVUGAME.com and at the DDSS ticket office. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for youth under 13 and senior citizens and $2 for groups of 10 or more. WVU students are admitted free with a valid WVU Student I.D.
It is Social Media Night, and free t-shirts will be given out at the game to the first 125 fans who tweet #WVUTweet4Tees between now and kickoff.

"We're going to have to play as good, if not better than we did last week against Michigan State," WVU coach Marlon LeBlanc said. "Western Michigan is a top team this year, they've proven it over and over again, they've beaten some good teams. We're going to have to definitely be at our best to find a result, but I'm looking forward to that game."
The Mountaineers (7-3-4, 0-0-2 Mid-American Conference) welcome their third top-25 opponent to Morgantown this season, as WVU looks to win its second in a row against a top-10 foe after a 1-0 win against No. 5 Michigan State last week. With its 0-0-2 league record, West Virginia is in fourth place in the MAC, one point out of second place.
The Broncos (12-2-1, 2-0) sit in first place in the league with six points. WMU is ranked in the top 12 in all four major polls, coming in as high as No. 8 in this week's United Soccer Coaches rankings.
The Mountaineers have several players that are among the national and league leaders in several statistical categories. Senior Jad Arslan's three game-winning goals lead the MAC and rank No. 21 nationally. Sophomore Albert Andres-Llop is second in the MAC with five goals and is third in total points (12) and fourth in goals per game (0.38). Junior Jorge Quintanilla is third in the conference in both total assists (5) and assists per game (0.38).
In goal, junior Stephen Banick is third in the league with five shutouts and fourth in the MAC with a .718 save percentage.
As a team, West Virginia's eight shutouts and .571 shutout percentage ranks 10th nationally and second in the conference. WVU is also third in the league in total goals (17), total points (52) and shots per game (10.79).
SCOUTING WESTERN MICHIGAN
Western Michigan comes to Morgantown with a 12-2-1 record and a 2-0-0 mark in MAC play. WMU is 5-1-1 on the road, including a 3-2 win at then-No. 15 Butler. Against ranked opponents, the Broncos are 3-1.
Brandon Bye leads WMU with 10 goals and is second with five assists. Jay McIntosh and Tommy Clark have a team-high-tying seven assists. Drew Shepherd has started 14 games in goal and has made 23 saves for a .697 save-percentage and a 0.74 goals-against average.
Chad Wiseman is in his fifth season as head coach of his alma-mater, where he was a four-year letterwinner. He owns a 49-28-14 career record and was named the MAC Coach of the Year in 2015.
SERIES HISTORY VS. THE BRONCOS
West Virginia owns a 2-1-2 lead in the all-time series against Western Michigan. Following back-to-back ties in 2012 and 2013, WVU earned a 2-1 road win in 2014 before a 1-0 victory in Morgantown in 2015. Last season, WMU won at home, 2-1.

Freshman goalkeeper Steven Tekesky made a career-best three saves and picked up his second shutout of his career. WVU out-shot the Falcons, 10-6, while West Virginia had two shots on goal. Six of West Virginia's 10 shots came in the second half, while another three came in overtime. Bowling Green had two shots in the first half and six in the second before the Mountaineers held the Falcons to no shots in the overtime periods.
Junior Rushawn Larmond and sophomore Pascal Derwaritsch both had a team-high-tying two shots and one shot on goal. Sophomore Ryan Kellogg also notched a pair of shots as WVU played in its fifth overtime contest.
