Mountaineers in the Pros: Playoffs Week 1

In this week’s report, Don Barclay and Mark Glowinski, Bruce Irvin and Karl Joseph saw action in last weekend’s opening weekend of the postseason. Barclay and Glowinski helped their teams to victories and move on to the Divisional Round.

Don Barclay played 10 snaps in Green Bay’s 38-13 win over the New York Giants in the first round of the playoffs on Sunday. Barclay and Green Bay (11-6) travel to Dallas to take on the Cowboys (13-3) in the Divisional Round of the playoffs on Sunday afternoon.
Next Game: Injured Reserve
Rookie KJ Dillon was placed on injured reserve after suffering an injury against Indianapolis on Monday, Oct. 17. Although Dillion may have been sidelined, he and his teammates helped 14 needy children by picking out clothing and toys in a shopping spree. Dillon’s Texans (10-7) advanced in the playoffs after a 27-14 win over the Raiders and travel to face the New England Patriots (14-2) on Saturday.
Next Game: Saturday, Jan. 14 – at Atlanta – 4:35 p.m. ET
Mark Glowinski started at left guard and played all 73 offensive snaps in Seattle’s 26-6 win over Detroit in the Wild Card on Saturday. The Seahawks (11-5-1) travel to Atlanta (11-5) to take on the Falcons in the Divisional Round of the playoffs on Saturday.
Bruce Irvin and the Raiders saw their season come to an end on Saturday with a 27-14 loss at Houston in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. Irvin, who started at linebacker in the contest, had five tackles.

Will Johnson signed a free agent contract with the New York Giants in April. Johnson had played in 47 straight games in the regular season with the Steelers, which was the third-longest active streak among NFL fullbacks. However, he suffered an injury early in the preseason and was placed on the Giants injured reserve list. The Giants’ season came to an end on Sunday with a Wild Card loss at Green Bay, 38-13.

Karl Joseph returned to action in the Raiders’ 27-14 loss at Houston in the playoffs on Saturday. Joseph had four tackles, all solo, after missing the last four weeks of the regular season.

Next Game: Practice Squad
Shaq Riddick was signed to Pittsburgh’s practice squad on Dec. 13. He was originally drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He was released by Arizona on Sept. 27. Pittsburgh (12-5) won its Wild Card matchup with Miami, 30-12, and faces the Chiefs (12-4) on Sunday in Kansas City.

Dreamius Smith was signed to the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad on Nov. 28. Smith signed an undrafted free agent contract with the San Diego Chargers last season. He was placed on injured reserve on August 30 and released two days later. Smith appeared in two games with the Chargers in 2015. Pittsburgh (12-5) won its Wild Card matchup with Miami, 30-12, and faces the Chiefs (12-4) on Sunday in Kansas City.

J.T. Thomas played 11 snaps on special teams before suffering a knee injury in New York’s 20-19 season-opening loss at Dallas. Subsequently, the Giants placed Thomas on injured reserve on Monday, Sept. 12. The Giants’ season concluded with a 38-13 loss in the Wild Card round at Green Bay on Sunday.
