West Virginia is back in the rankings this week at No. 21 in the coaches’ poll and No. 23 in the Associated Press poll, released earlier today.
It’s West Virginia’s first appearance in either poll this season and its first in both polls since week 11 last year when the Mountaineers were ranked No. 24 by the writers and No. 25 by the coaches.
West Virginia is one of five Big 12 teams in this week’s rankings. In the coaches’ poll, TCU remains at No. 3, Baylor is No. 4, Oklahoma is No. 14 and Oklahoma State is No. 19, while in the AP poll the Horned Frogs are No. 4, Baylor is No. 5, Oklahoma is No. 15 and Oklahoma State is No. 20.
It’s West Virginia’s 27th appearance in the AP Top 25 under current coach Dana Holgorsen.
Additionally, West Virginia is No. 19 in this week’s ESPN.com power poll.
The Mountaineers (3-0) travel to Oklahoma to meet the 3-0 Sooners in Norman on Saturday, October 3 in a game that will kick off at noon and will be televised nationally on Fox Sports 1.
