Utah Rolls to 32-6 Liberty Bowl Win

Atlantic City, N.J. – Utah combined speed and alertness with fundamental soundness for a one-sided victory over West Virginia in the 1964 Liberty Bowl beneath the bright lights in Atlantic City's Convention Hall.
The Utes showed too much speed, racing to a 25-0 lead before the Mountaineers could manage a touchdown that averted the shutout in the first major bowl game ever played indoors.
The passing of Allen McCune and the receiving of Milt Clegg were the only bright spots for the Mountaineers. They hooked up seven times for 92 yards and West Virginia's lone score. In all, McCune completed 13 of 28 passes, but was intercepted four times.
Coach Gene Corum cited Utah's speed as the game's deciding factor in reference to a staggering 466 yards of total offense by the Utes.
