Jay Kuntz, who has spent 15 years with the Mountaineer basketball program, serves as the Director of Player Personnel/Recruiting for WVU men's basketball.
Kuntz served as Assistant to the Head Coach from July 2017-22Â after serving as coordinator of player development from 2015-17.

Kuntz spent three years as a graduate assistant in men’s basketball and was a four-year student manager from 2008-12. He also served as an assistant camp director for the Bob Huggins Basketball Camps and coordinated the men’s basketball manager staff consisting of 16 individuals.

In his current role at WVU, Kuntz oversees all aspects of the on and off campus recruiting process for prospective student-athletes as well as manages the NCAA Transfer Portal for coach Bob Huggins.Â

Jay coordinates the Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) activities for men’s basketball working closely with the staff to ensure compliance with NCAA and institutional policies. Kuntz serves as the liaison between men’s basketball program and the Country Roads Trust in regard to NIL.Â

Kuntz also serves as liaison to the Mountaineer Athletic Club (MAC) and other external groups, while at the same time, coordinating staff and team appearances.

A native of Wallingford, Connecticut, Kuntz graduated from WVU in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in multidisciplinary studies and earned a master’s degree from WVU in athletic coaching education in 2014.
Kuntz has one son, Jaxton.
