    Coaching Highlights

  • Has 18 years of collegiate coaching experience with four bowl appearances
  • Over the course of his career, he has coached quarterbacks, wide receivers, tight ends, the offensive line and the defensive secondary.

    West Virginia

  • Coached Pat White, who set the NCAA rushing mark by a quarterback (4,490 yards) and was the first starting quarterback in NCAA history to win four bowl games
  • White set 25 WVU, BIG EAST and NCAA records, including the BIG EAST record for total offense (10,529) and touchdowns responsible for (103)
  • Offense was ranked No. 15 nationally in rushing yards, No. 28 in pass efficiency and No. 27 in fewest sacks allowed

    Wake Forest

  • Helped guide the Demon Deacons to the 2006 ACC and Orange Bowl appearance against Louisville
  • Coached quarterback Riley Skinner in 2007, who led the nation in completion percentage. Skinner broke 11 records as a freshman in 2007
  • In 2004, coached quarterback Cory Randolph, who was the school’s third-most accurate passer and set the WFU best percentage in a season record (65 percent). Randolph became the third quarterback in ACC history to throw for 300 yards and rush for 100 yards in the same game
  • Four of the 10 longest passing plays in WFU history were from one of Mullen’s quarterbacks
  • Oversaw tight end Ray Thomas and fullback Ovie Mughellie, both of whom played professional football.
  • Mughellie scored 12 touchdowns in 2002, which was the most by a WFU rusher in 30 years

    Ohio

  • Helped guide the Bobcats to their first winning season in 14 years when they finished with an 8-3 record in 1997.
  • From 1997-2000, Ohio finished no lower than third place in its division of the Mid-American Conference.
  • The Bobcats finished with a 7-4 record in 2000 and had a third-place finish in the MAC.
