
West Virginia Heads to Kansas for Top-15 Series

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 15 West Virginia University baseball team travels to No. 7 Kansas for a Big 12 series, May 8-10. First pitch on Friday is set for 7 p.m. ET, Saturday for 3 p.m. ET, and Sunday for 12 p.m. ET.

The Mountaineers are 32-12 overall this season and 16-8 in the Big 12 after sweeping Kansas State last weekend and winning their final non-conference game of the season against Marshall. WVU sits in second place in the Big 12, four games behind Kansas with six games still to play.
Sophomore Gavin Kelly leads the Mountaineers with a .394 batting average and 43 RBI while hitting a team-high 10 home runs, four of which have come in the last three games. Senior Paul Schoenfeld is hitting .381 while sophomore Matt Ineich is hitting at a .326 clip. Junior Armani Guzman leads the Big 12 with 27 stolen bases.
On the mound, redshirt junior Maxx Yehl and sophomore Chansen Cole have been the best 1-2 punch in the league as they are tops in the Big 12 with a 2.20 and 2.64 ERA, respectively. Cole is coming off a complete game against K-State for his league-leading eighth win of the season.
