
Mountaineers and Herd to Meet in Charleston

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 15 West Virginia University baseball team plays its final non-conference game of the season, Tuesday, May 5, against Marshall from GoMart Ballpark in Charleston, W.Va. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.

The Mountaineers are 31-12 this season after sweeping Kansas State over the weekend, outscoring the Wildcats, 29-7, in the series. Sophomore Chansen Cole threw a complete game on Saturday and was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week.
Sophomore Gavin Kelly and graduate student Sean Smith both hit two home runs over the weekend, giving them eight and seven, respectively, for the season to lead the team.

RHP David Hagen (3-1, 4.74 ERA, 16 K, 16 BB, 19.0 IP) vs. LHP Landen Doll (2-3, 6.82 ERA, 41 K, 11 BB, 33.0 IP)
Marshall is 21-26 this season and are coming off a 1-2 weekend at James Madison.
Evan Bottone leads the team with a .376 batting average while Jackson Halter has a team-high seven home runs and 43 RBI. Landen Doll will make his third start of the season and currently has a 6.82 ERA in 33.0 innings.
