MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 9 West Virginia University baseball team fell to TCU, 4-0, Friday night at Kendrick Family Ballpark. The Mountaineers fall to 36-13 and 20-9 in the Big 12 while the Horned Frogs improve to 33-19 and 17-12 in league play.
TCU's Lance Davis went the distance in the shutout, striking out six. Sophomore Matt Ineich, senior Paul Schoenfeld, and senior Ben Lumsden had the only hits on the night for the Mountaineers.
After a scoreless first, Preston Gamster and Kyuss Gargett each hit solo home runs for TCU in the second. After the inning, redshirt junior Maxx Yehl allowed just one more baserunner as he struck out nine in 6.2 innings.
In the eighth, junior Dawson Montesa stuck out four in the inning, but unfortunately, two of those batters reached on wild pitches, allowing two runs to score.
