MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University women's basketball head coach Mark Kellogg has announced the addition of Nylah Wilson (Chester, Va. / Pitt / IMG Academy) to a grant-in-aid for the 2026-27 academic year.
"We're excited to welcome Nylah Wilson to West Virginia Mountaineers women's basketball. Nylah is a talented player who had a very strong high school career and is exactly the type of player we want in our program—tough, versatile, and competitive," Kellogg said. "She brings great energy and has the ability to impact the game in a lot of different ways. We're looking forward to getting her in our system and seeing her grow."
The 5-foot-9 guard from Chester, Virginia, has played one season of collegiate basketball with three seasons of eligibility left after beginning her career at Pitt.
Last season, she saw action in six contests where she recorded eight points, two rebounds, one assist, and one steal in her collegiate debut against Drexel. She managed a career-high nine points, two rebounds, and one steal later in the season against Cornell.
Out of high school, Wilson was a five-star prospect by ESPN.com, ranked 30th overall in the class of 2025. On3 ranked her No. 34 in the nation, No. 2 at her position, and No. 2 in the state of Virginia.
As a senior, played at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., leading her team to their first national championship in the history of the IMG Academy girls' basketball program with a 17-4 overall record. Made the buzzer-beater three over No. 2 Westtown School (PA) in the semifinals (64-61) to send IMG Academy to the championship game.
As a junior, played for Thomas Dale High School in Chester, Va., leading her team with 21.0 points per game, as well as adding 4.0 assists, 3.6 steals and 5.3 rebounds per game. She helped her squad to a 24-2 record and the Virginia High School League state final.
Wilson is planning on majoring in Sports and Exercise Psychology while at West Virginia University. She is the daughter of Muhammad Wilson and Ernestine Perry and has four siblings: Moe, Omar, Taj and Kiki.
