
West Virginia Scores Conference Game Program Record 106 Points Against UCF

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 19 West Virginia University women's basketball team scored 106 points, the most ever against a conference opponent, to roll to a 50-point win over UCF on Wednesday evening inside Hope Coliseum.
West Virginia recorded its second-highest offensive output of the season. It marks the third time this season WVU has reached the 100-point mark after scoring 109 against Texas Southern and 101 in their Big 12 opener against Houston. The win marks just the second time in program history the Mountaineers have reached 100 points in a Big 12 game.
The Mountaineers (21–5, 11–3 Big 12) shot 56 percent from the field and forced 23 turnovers, turning them into 41 points on the other end. West Virginia finished with just seven turnovers as UCF never converted points on the Mountaineer miscues. WVU controlled the paint throughout the night, outscoring the Knights 66–32 inside and holding a 42–26 rebounding advantage.
In total, six Mountaineers scored in double figures, and 11 players reached the scoring column as WVU's bench combined for 52 points.
Riley Makalusky led West Virginia with 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting, including three 3-pointers. It marks a career-best at WVU. Kierra Wheeler added 18 points and nine rebounds, while Sydney Woodley provided a spark off the bench with 16 points and four steals.
Jordan Harrison orchestrated the offense with 12 points, eight assists and four steals. Gia Cooke also finished with 12 points and added a career-high six assists. Sydney Shaw was the final Mountaineer in double figures with 10 points to go along with nine rebounds.
West Virginia jumped out to a 24–8 lead after the first quarter and never trailed, using a 31-point third quarter to put the game out of reach. WVU held UCF (10–14, 2–11 Big 12) to 41 percent shooting and only four made 3-pointers. WVU led by as many as 53 points in the late stages of the fourth quarter.
Mahogany Chandler-Roberts paced the Knights with 12 points. UCF committed 23 turnovers and managed just 10 second-chance points.
The Mountaineers are back on the road this weekend for a matchup with No. 17 TCU on Sunday. Tipoff from Fort Worth, Texas, is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on FS1.
