SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The West Virginia University women's soccer team (6-2-1, 1-0-1 Big 12) played to a 1-1 draw with Utah at Ute Field in Salt Lake City on Saturday night.
For the second straight game, WVU (6-2-2, 1-0-2 Big 12) responded to its opponent's goal within a minute. After a scoreless first half, the Utes got on the board first at the 56:42 mark, but the lead didn't last long. West Virginia responded at 57:41 with an incredible goal from junior midfielder Anna Hauer. The score marked her first as a Mountaineer and eighth of her collegiate career. Sophomore midfielder Maddie Levy was credited with the assist on the score.
Following West Virginia's equalizer, the two teams fought for a go-ahead score, with 11 shots fired between the two teams in the final 30 minutes of play. However, the two defenses remained stout and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
In the final stats, Utah narrowly edged the Mountaineers in shots, 15-14, while WVU took an 8-6 advantage in shots on goal. The two teams tied with four corner kicks apiece. Senior forward Taylor White led the offense with four shots, while junior keeper Bailey Herfurth notched a career-best five saves in the contest.

After four straight games on the road, West Virginia finally returns home next week to begin a three-game swing in Morgantown. The Mountaineers open the homestand against Arizona on Thursday, Oct. 2. Kickoff at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium is slated for 7 p.m. ET, and it's West Virginia's annual Pack It Pink match in support of the Betty Puskar Breast Care Center.
