Junior Sam White went 3-for-5 with three runs scored while freshman Gavin Kelly had three hits, including a two-run home run, his second of the season. Junior Skylar King added two RBI as did senior Kyle West.
West Virginia took the lead in the second on a run-scoring groundout from senior Jace Rinehart.
After keeping LSU off the board for the first three innings, the Tigers hit a three-run home run in the fourth to take the lead. They added seven more in the fifth to extend their lead to 10-1.
In the sixth, the Mountaineers put up four runs on a pair of RBI singles by King and redshirt junior Chase Swain as well as an LSU error. However, the Tigers answered back with six runs in the home half, including their second grand slam of the game.
Kelly got two runs back in the seventh with an opposite-field home run. Senior Kyle West added another two-run home run in the ninth for Mountaineers, his 11th of the season, but the rally ended there.
